\Vhat was formerly tho Maribyrnong racecourse has been acquired by the Commonwealth Government as a site for a, cordite factory, and a dispute has arisen as to tho price that should be paid for it. It was stated that a Mr Cox bought the land in 1890 for £16,E23, and a Mr Miller advanced £15.540 on it on mortgage. When notice was given that the Government would take it, Miller put in a claim for £IB,OOO, principal and interest due, and Cox's trustees claimed £22,380 (less the mortgage}.
