The Finance Committee's report was presented. The- pay-sheet for the month ended 30th June amounted to £l2o 3s 9d. The rates outstanding lor the past year amounted to £33 18s lid, 10 per cent, penalty £3 7s lid; routs outstanding £26 i*2s. Only one tender ■ was received for the work of kerbing and forming 12 chains of footpath on Railway Terrace, that of Messrs Monahaa and Son of £33 12s, with 2s per yard for filling material.

Railway Crossings—Councillor Frew touched upon the danger of the railway crossing on. High street. He referred to the recent inquest and thought for the safety and convenience of the public they should ask their member to get safer means of communication between the east and west side of the borough.—lt was unanimously resolved that the clerk write to the Member accordingly. The Council went into committo* for the Temuka Domain Board, and received the following tenders for ting firewood: Geo. Davis 7s 6d per cord, I*. South 7s 6d, F. Prattley junr. 7s 6(1, G. Taylor 7s 9d, Thos. Collins 8s Id, T. BurborougK 10s. Mr Prattley's tender was acceptedAccounts amounting to £l2 9s 8d were passed for payment. The Arowhenua Cemetery Board' 9 pay-sheet for £7 13s 6d, and 'Axowheiiua Domain Board for £lO were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
