Mr J. Payton, editor and proprietor ®f the "Wairarapa Daily Times" diai at Masterton yesterday. He was 67 years of age. • C. Woodger, the professional runner, who it will be remembered ran second in the South Canterbury Professional Club's big handicap, has gone to Sidney.' Mr A. I). Aitken, who for several years lias been connected with amateur musical . and dramatic organisations in Christchurch, has taken up business in Temuka. Prior to his departure, Mr Aitken was presented hy tlte staffs of George Da vies, Ltd., with a silver entree dish, and on belialf of a. number of amateur dramatic friends, lie wae presented with a silver afternoon tea service. He was also tendered a farewell gathering by the Ghrifitehurch Sara«e Club.
