IT is hereby notified, in accordance with the provisions of " The Education Act, 1908," that the .Annual Elections to fill the vacancies on the al>ove Board, caused bv the retirement of Messrs John Scott Rutherford (North Ward), George John Sealev (Middle Ward), and William Milne Hamilton (South Ward), will take place on MONDAY. 25th July, 1910. The retiring Members are eligible for reelection. HTE MATTER OF A BILL intituled •' An Act to authorise and empower the Oaniaru Harbour Hoard to effect a • Compromise with the holders of Debentures ! issued under the provisions of '•The Omn.-iru Harbour Hoard Oiflinanie Amendment Act 187S" and "The Harbours Act IS7S" and to i-jiise a LOAN' for the purpose of carrying into effect the said Compromise and for the purpose of redeeming all other Loans of tho baid Board.

- harbour Board (hereinafter called "the Board") intends to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the ensuing session thereof praying for leave to introduce a Rill intituled as above ;ind the Short Title of which is '-The Oamaru Harbour Board Enabling \ct 1910." *• The objects of the said Bill are:— 1. To make binding upon the Board and upon all the holders of 1 000 debentures of £IOO each of the loan of £IOO,OOO issued bv the Oainani Harbour Board in the year 1879 under the above-men-tioned ordinance and Act an Agreement dated the 26th dav of April 15)10 made between a C~-~ mittee in London represehtin majority of the holders of th said debentures of the one par. find the Board of the other part by which Agreement if the holders qf not less than seventv per cent of the said debentures should agree thereto all the holders of such debentures as aforesaid are to receive and accent in cash the sum of £47 with "interest thereon at the rate of £4 per cent, per annum from the 31st day of December 1909 in payment and discharge of each £IOO debenture. 9. To authorise the Board to raise a loan of £225,000 for the following purooses namely, (a) To carry into effect the said agreement and nay all moneys and interest payable thereunder and (b) To enable the Board to redeem all its other loans. To empower the Board to make and levy as part of the securitv for the said loan of £225,000 and the interest sinking fund and other annual charges pavable in respect thereof an annually ;e----curring special rate not exceeding seven-twelfths of a penny ; n the £ on all rateable property in the Oamaru Harbour District.. 4.
