The games i vere to have been ulayed on the Park Jut the ground was not in good con- I lition, so yie players were transferred , a Russell Squure. 'limaru Men's sui'-j 'ered defeat by two goals to nil, St. j tfary's being the winners. Timaru la- ; lies juniors playing against Girls High j School could not score and the game { >nded in a draw, neither side scoring. The Girls' High School had much the hest of the play in the second round, Jut were not successful in goal get- j ;ing. Te Rangi journeyed to Geral- j linie and suffered defeat by the local | )oys by seven goals to one. Avoca beat Pioneer girls by two goals to nil. Timaru Men's v. St. Mary's (sonbra). —From the bully off Lloyd, TiBiaru, secured and set his forwards in ►ction and got into St. Mary's twentynve,_ only to have a free hit given against them for obstruction. St. Gary's cleared their twenty-five _ by driving the ball well up the line. Broad securing made a good run which was stopped by Paton, and he placing the ball well amongst his forwards, they then made for St. Mary's circle. When just in a good scoring position Dobier obstructed and St. Mary cleared from the free hit. Play hovered near mid-field until Pallisor, getting Kwsession of the ball, passed to his ft wing who missed and Duff made two or three ineffectual hits managed at last to clear with a good hit.' St. Mary's not to be denied, again came. away and passing well got right into Timaru circle and Palliser 'taking a wild shot went wide of the posts. Prom the bully Lloyd again secured and Timaru again shifted play from their quarters, but good play was nullified by Smith giving stick, thereby •Mowing St. Mary's to set up another attack. Broad running well down the line centred and although St. Mary's forwards were in a good scoring position they could not find the net. Timaru hitting behind gave St. Mary's a corner hit. From the hit out Timaru cleared, but Jones gave stick. St. Mary's from the free hit sent the ball in motion and got into; Timaru circle. From a scramble in front one •f St. Mary's forwards shot an easy goal. From the bully St. Mary's again attacked and Timaru backs, flaying' all out of position, St. Mary's were let through and S. Cornish, Timaru's goal-keeper made a good save. St. Mary's from a corner hit again tried to shoot but were not successful. Not to be denied St. Mary's again invaded and from a splendid pass from th© right wing were again successful, •coring with a fast low shot which beat the Timaru goal-keeper. Play then travelled from one end of the field to the other and at this stage Timaru were repeatedly penalised for obstruction and sticks. Half-time sounded with no addition to the score. From the start of the second haJf Timaru -attacked, Thomas centreing allowed Dobier to have a shot which went wide. Timaru's captain had shifted tin men into different places. Paton going up into the forwards, Hurdley going back to threequarter, and Duff went up to centre half from the threequarter placing Bowkett back. This seemed to have a steadying effect on St. Mary's rushes and play was of a very even nature. Paton then set up a strong run and took the ball on with him, only to be beaten by St. Mary's left threequarter, who saved well. Timaru forwards were now playing better together, but received very little help from their backs. Duff making a good hit got his forwards in action and passing the ball well, considering the bumpy naIture of the ground, got into St. Mary's circle and Lloyd had a shot which the St. Mnrv's goal-keeper stopped and kicked ' out. Palkser beating Thomas then ran well up the line and St. Mary's got into Timaru circle, but the defence was to solid. Shears getting in a good hit cleared well" up the field. Play was of a very even nature, although Timaru should have scored more than once had their forwards shot straight.' Time was called with no addition to the score, St.Mary'g winning by two goals to one. Mt W. W. Smith was referee, and gave

every satisfaction, although at times players seined to try and bustle lain with their appeals. Girls' High School v. Timaru Ladies (junior).—Way in the first half was of a slow nature, neither side seeming to care whether they.played or not. From the bully Timaru made an attack, being let through by the School's half-back missing. The School right threequarter saved with a good hit. Tiuiaru from the roll in set up another hot attack which was well stopped by the School backs. Playing too close together, the School forwards did not make use of the openings which were given them, although their left wing made some good runs up the line and centred well. Miss Simmers of the School was then conspicuous for a fine run, beating no less than five Timaru girls for the ball, but her forwards were not in position, when she sent the ball across. and Miss Hurdley saved with a good hit. Although Timaru made several attempts, to score they were ::■••■■ ~-nccessfiil, mainly' owing to the I' ■'*■• ■ ■ -M >.l defence and hitting of th~ •"■■ ""',s right three-quarter. Half-t': v "- -• •> -d with no score. After hnlf-*?v,> ih-e School played a nice game; the whole team played in position, and passed the ball welt nmongst themselves. Misses Simmers, Greenfield and Kane played with good combination and were continually dangerous. From the 1 ully the School went right into Timaru's circle, and stayed there for some time, Timaru having to concede three corners in succession. They then cleared their circle, and Timaru's left wing hotly attacked School's goal, their right thre-e----quarter saving with a splendid hit. Timaru's left wing was seen to advantage, putting in some nice runs, but she was beaten every time when she got to the tliree-quartor. The t wme was stopped tor a minute through one of the Timaru ladies receiving a i i.sty hit. The Girls' School, playing a > 'nA passing game, were repeatedly in Timaru's circle, but could not score. The game eildod in a draw, neither side scoring. Mr W. W: Smith refereed this match, and gave every satisfaction. Te Rangi v. Geraldine (men). —Te Rangi journeyed to Geraldine to pfay, and were easily defeated by seven goais to one. Mr Feeley was referee. Avoca v. Pioneer. —Playing at G°-al-dine, Avoca defeated Pioneer bv two goals to nil, Misses K. Sullivan and D. Collins each scoring a goal. The play was in Pioneer's half the whole of the game, but owing to the greasy state of the ground Avoca were unable to score as many goais as they should have done. ' Mr Anderson was the referee, and gave every satisfaction.
