DAYS AND DATES.
The Jeffries-Johnson fight 5a fixed for Monday next, and probably most of our readers have been thinking that they frill find some news of the result in Tuesday morning's paper. Unless they correct this anticipation tliey will be disappointed. - The correction lies in a. bit of rather curious geography. The some sun shines over Reno and Timaru, and at the nme time for tha greater part of our short day. a lesser part of their long day, at this time of year, Reno time being about 4£ hours ahead of ours. In other words, and by example, when it is noon at Timara it is about half-past four in the afternoon at Reno. But owing to the way in which time was distributed over the world with the march of civilisation, when it is noon at Timaru on Monday,it will be half-past four of Sunday afternoon at Reno; consequently Kerada's Monday is New Zealand's Tue»dav.
