Dohrmann. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs JVYhite and Eiworthy. CHAIRMAN b STATEMENT. The Chairman reported that a claim had been lodged in conneotion with Shearer's Hill deviation, and it would he necessary to appoint a Committee to confer with the Council's solicitor. It would be necessary to fix the rates for the current year. The Timaru Harbour Board's levy was the same as for the past year, viz., £1969, and the rate they had been levying for some years nad been barely under requirements, so it would be necessary to strike a rate .this year of one farthing in the £l. The general bank account showed an overdraft of. £3720, and accounts amounting to £1136 would be presented for payment. They were thus within their estimated position at this period of the year, and there would be no necessity for fixing the time of payment of the rates at an earlier date than UsuaL Residents of the town had decided to erect a band rotunda in Seddon Square as a memorial to the late King, and he hoped the Council would assist the proposal.—Adopted.
