CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY WILDING. Pros Awociatlon-By Telesjrapb-Oopyright LONDON, June 28. Id the final for the lawn 'tennis championship Anthony Wilding (New Zealand) beat Wright (America), 4-6, 4-6, 6-3. 6-2, 6-3. Wright rushing to the net in tha early stapes outplayed Wilding. , In the third set they were two games all, then Wilding's driving along the sidelines and volleying proved irresistible. Then- were many exciting rallies', but Wilding was the steadier in play. The winner received an ovation.
In the doubles championship, fourth round Doust and ' Poidevin beat Prebble and Barnes 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. June 29. In a private letter, Anthonv Wilding states that it is doubtful if his engagements will allow Mm to be back in the Dominion until after Christmas. He adds that if the Davis Cm> contest had been fixed for Christ-church he would have put everything else on one side to defend the dig.
