The Southern steamship Company's s.s. Kotare, is due at Timaru on Wednesday next with a cargo of timber. . The Adelaide Steamship Company's steamer Diikera arrived off the p,.rt from Bunbury via Melbourne at S a.m. yesterday, and berthed after in;dieal inspection at 10 a.m. Tlie Diikera left Bunbury on May 2Sth, and two days later heavy weather was encountered; a. strong gale blowing from the sou'-east-. The gale did not last long, and favourable weather was met with ■till arrival at> Melbourne, where part cargo of jarrah was landed, and the steamer's bunkers replenished. The Tcssel left Melbourne at y a.m. on the sth inst. On. the 7th a strong wind blew from the nor'-west but soon shifted round to son'-west. Calm weather continued, and the vessel signalled the Bluff at 9 a.m. on Saturday, arriving here as above. 'l'he Diikera is under charter to Millar's West Hardwood Company, of Australia, Limited, and is on her second trip for them. The steamer is fitted with the latestfacilities for handling cargo, and has five hatches, with swinging derricks at each hatch. The Diikera is on her first visit to Tiniaru. and Captain W. Hall, has the following officers with him: —Chief Messrs Henry, second Fenwiek. and third Shiptun. The chief engineer is M. Palmer, who lias associated with him Messrs McFarkuicand Wilis as second and third respectively. The chief steward is .Mr W. Larryer.
