PATHE PICTURES. A crowded audience greeted the weekiy change of animated pictures, tfwwn under the new direction of .Messrs Hayward and West The series comprise the usual selection of scenic, dramatic and humorous films, all of which are of a verv hinli standard. Amongst the scenic films, the one entitled .-'A trip throwrh Russia" ca Is lor particular mention. Some splendid views of the City of Moscow, are obtained, and a regimental parade ot some Cossack troops is TPrv ;„. e.vtmg "The Molucca Islands" is a very beautifully coloured film The star Picture entitled "The Hnnehman's Rival is full of interest. \n \mencan ranchman is engaged to a stocker's daughter, but the suhseouent appearance of a city clerk. <,n the scene causes the girl's affections to turn towards the city nii.li. The engagement with the ranchman is broken, and the girl elopes from her home with the city man. Meanwhile the poor ranchman broken hearted, leaves his employment, and'determines to ouit the country. Casually he discovers that his-rival is a married man. and he at once goes on the track of the fnp-itives. and discovers them, -when in the act of being married. Matters are explained, and t!i= city man is compelled by force to clear out. The lovers are reunited, and the affair ends happily. Other dramatic films were "Pardners" -and "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The humorous pictures "A SeasMe .Flirtation," "The Fallen Tdol," and "A Chaperoned Honeymoon."
