j BIG BLAZE IN NAPIER. I Per Press Association. NAPIER, May 29. .Shortly after 9 o'clock on Saturday ! niglit, a lire broke out in Mr T. Slade's private hotel on tho Marino Parade, : and quickly spread to tlio adjoining ImiUiinfj;; and did a la rye amount of damage before it was subdued. The private hotel was a wooden two.storey building containing 32 rooms, and was with its contents completely destroyed. A cottage of seven rooms also owned by Mr Slade, and used in connection with his hoarding establishment, was badlv gutted. The majority of fhe boarders lost everything except what, they were wearing, Mr (icoi';:e Kvuicr's residence .and a cottage occupied by Mr Edward Ashton and owned by Jlr R. L. Williams , caught lire, and wore both coniplotely • destroyed. Mr Slade's stables and i those of Mr -John Skews,, cab proprici tor, Mere aho destroyed. The horses ■ ami vehicles, however, were saved.
