MOXIHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the AVaimate County Council was held in the Comity Orhces, V> annate. yesterday, ! and was attended by .Messrs" 11. H. 1 Rhodes (.chairman). J. Bitehener, H. ' It wax decided to strike rates as follows:—Lower Paroora. water supply district 5-ltk.l in £ being part of special rate of l.ld in £ for payment of interest on water .supply loan: Lower Wuihao water supply district Jd in the £, in part payment of the annual charge for water supplied, and l-3d in the £, being part of special rate of lid for payment of interest on loan; all to be payable on September Ist. It was decided to write to the Land Board explaining that the Glenavy water race has been abandoned; and reverts to the owner. PUBLIC HEALTH.

Mr R. J. Alelvenzie. sanitary inspector, reported for the quarter ending April 30th that five cases of scarlet- fever, eight of diphtheria, (live of these in one house), four of enteric fever, one of septacaemia, and one of erysipelas had occurred, and precautions had been taken. He had inspected the St. Andrews township, and found the sanitation on the whole more satisfactory than formerly. Notices of other cases of infectious diseases existing within the country were received—scarlet fever 2. diphtheria 3. and i vplmid fever 1. GENERAL.

Permission was given the Waimate Borough Council io lay water-pipes on the Parsonage, road, the work to be done to the satisfaction of the engineer.
