The bulk of the grain, however, is second or third class quality, for whieli there arc practically no buyer-;. The worst of the wheat is jaow worth 3s delivered to shippers as fowl wheat. There is a large quantity (in offer in Christehureli a;id it is being shipped at price;; tiiat would not leave operators a profit if bought at 3s a bushel. The London advices are not encouraging.—New Zealand wheat of standard grades of last senson is quoted at 3.js Gel per quarter, and at this price growers cannot iook for much more than os (xl for best I wheat per bushel Oats are not offering in any 'quantity but as threshing proceeds no doubt growers wilL bring forward samples more freely. From present indications Southland will be in the market very coon with good .liquidity lines for superior to those already exhibited in South Canterbury and at lower prices. Shippers in tho meantime are forced to stay their hands for growers here have too exalted opinion of values. Potatoes are selling at (is a ewt., but business i. 5 far from steady.
