FOOTBALL.
THE STAR CLUB. The annual meeting of the Star Football Club was held in the Club's room on \\ ujsday nigui,, Mr l'red Watson prtiiumg. TiK-re was a good attenuanee ot luumbiri-s, and the meeting was an enthusiastic: one. The annual report made mention of the fact that a number of enthusiastic jvuug players had joined the Club during the past year. The receipts for the year saowed a falling oil, and better support, was desired -->o that, the remaining debentures migm oe paid off. A resume of the matches played uuring the year was given, and tile report suited that the brigiiCcsi spot in Star's dark cloud was the success of the fourth graders. The thanks of the Club were recorded to the patron, Mr R. H. Rhodes, the president, Mr F. Watson, and the vice-presidents and lady friends of the Club for their continued assistance during the year; and to Messrs A. Grant and J. Pearce for trophies presented by them for competition. The balance sheet showed the receipts to have amounted to £167 10s lOd, and the expenditure to £159 19s, leaving a credit balance of £7 12s 10d! The excess of assets over liabilities was shown as £156 13s 2d. Mr Watson moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet, and in doing so, congratulated the Club upon the success it had achieved. Mr Manning seconded the motion, winch was carried -unanimously. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron Mr R. H.
