England in tlie second innings have eight wickets down for 159 (Woolley 64). SOUTH CANTERBURY v. CANTERBURY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 9. The match South Canterbury t. Canterbury commenced to-day. The visitors won the toss and in the first innings - made 124, E. Donohue 08 and F. H. Deacon 14 being the only double figure scorers. Canterbury- have lost one wicket for 103; H. Elis 59, E. R. Caygill 24. The South End Cricket Club will have a practice oil the Park Grounds this afternoon. Tlie following will play for Timaru v. Temuka on the Athletic Ground starting at 2.15 sharp, to-day:—Bruce, Hutchison, J. A. Combs, Loughnan, Lynch (2), Mitchell, Wright. Young, Ziesler, Valentine; emergencies, O'Dolioghue and C. Brosnahan. The Wnihi School defeated the Winchester Public School on the grounds on Saturday by 69 runs. The scores were—AVailii 40' (Helmore 9, Turnbull 8) and 71 (Burdon 26, Le Cren 11, Turnbull 9. Helmore 9): Winchester 12 (McClelland 4) and 32 (W- Elsom 19, H. Elsom 5). The bowling averages wore—Waihi: Burdon 5 for 25, Sercombe 10 for 13. WildinE 3 for 2: Winchester: Elsom 9 for 54, Scott 9 for 40.
