TEMUKA NOTES.

(From our Own Correspondent.) The vital statistics for Temuka for February were—Births 4, deaths 4, marriages 3. For Geraldine—Births 0, deaths 2, marriages 2. On Thursday next the Temuka Cricket Club will try conclusions against a team of ladies. This is now an annual fixture, and will take the place of the match to have been played against East Oxford, which has been abandoned owing to the latter being unable to get a team. A large number of sheep have been reaching this district from Southland. Last week several special trains carrying many hundreds were unloaded at Temuka to the order of local consignees.

The following represent the Victoria Park Tennis Club in their match against Trinity at Timaru to-morrow — Messrs X. Pearse, R. Lee, J. ElphinStbne. W. H. Reeves, A. Bushell, and E._ Miles, Mesdames Lee and Carl, Misses Taylor and Lee. Captain Chapman, of Temuka Rifles, leaves to-day for Trentham, where he will act as range officer; at the meet-

Before leaving she was presented with a handsomely hound church service by the Rev. Mr Adoock on behajf of the teachers of St. Poter's Sunday School, Miss Proudlock having acted as one for some time.

A number of ratepayers of Rangitata Island have signed, a patition praying that the district be deelarwl a River Board District under the Act of 1908. The petition is to be presented to the Governor at the exnirv of one month from 24th February" 1910. The petition, plan and description of boundaries are now open to inspection at the Temuka Road "Board office. The Rev. J. M. Adcock, vioar of St. Peter's, Temuka, left for Christchurch yesterday, ivhere he will spend a few days.
