Athletic & Cycling Notes.
(By Official.) The physical drill competition at the Temuka Caledonian Society's gathering on Boxing Day should be very interesting, and in addition the Temuka Rifles will give an exhibition display of bayonet fighting. There is quite a revival in amateur foot racing in Christchurch, and good fields are promised for the meeting which takes place at Lancaster Park to-day. No farther movement seems to have been made towards reviving the South Canterburv Amateur Athletic Club.
The South Canterbury Caledonian Society, have, in addition to liberal prize monev, added two special prizes of £3 3s for most points, and £1 Is for next most points in Ions: distance running events at the New Year meeting: that is for 440 yards, 880 yards. and one mile (first day), and 880 yards and one nrile (second day).
The decision of the North Canterbnrv Centre in disonalifying those cvelists who. in the Timnru to Cliristchnrch Road Race, broke the conditions by accenting assistance from motor-cars, will meet with general approval.
