The weather was all that could bo wished for the St. Andrews District Sports, which were held in Victoria Park, on Thursday. The attendance was good, the takings amounting to over £36. The sports committee are to be congratulated on the arrangements made; seats being provided for the public and good dressing accommodation for competitors. There was good competition in all the events, and the long list of dancing events added much to the enjoyment of the onlookers. The secretary, Mr D. Kennard, and the assistant secretary. Mr Gifford, worked extremely hard; and much of the success obtained was due to their efforts. The president, Mr G. T. South, was also one of those who lent considerable assistance in carrying through the programme in a workmanlike manner.

Jaekman., the wellknown Highland dancer of Pleasant Point, acted as judge with the assistance of Mr W. F. Campbell, and their decisions were beyond dispute and were well received by the public. In the evening after I Ik- sports » dance was .held;in the I'ublie Hull, and despite the warmth of the room, the large crowd present seemed to enjoy themselves' thoroughly. ' Mr R. Morris kindly gave his services as M.C., and excellent music was supplied by Mr T. Smith, of Pareora.
