APPLICATIONS ADJOURNED. Per Press Association. WAITARA, Dec. 3. At the quarterly meeting;: of the Taurarainui Licensing Committee an. application was made- on behalf _ or Richard Conrad Lawson of Raimmu (If irig Country) for a wholesale license there. • • . ' .••■ ' Mr Quiilian, for applicant,-said that a large petition had been, signed' by the residents in favour of tlio application, but it had not come to hand in time for presentation to tho committee. He gave an assuranco that tho premises were not in tho native area and there wero no legal objections of any kind.
The committee- retired to consider, and the chairman announced on his return that the committee wished for tho production formally, of evidence showing that the premises were not in the native area; and also wanted to see tho 'petition. The application would he adjourned to .January 14th ,to enable these points .to' ho met. Tho chairman added that the netitiou would have groat' weight with the committee.
An application was made informally for Joseph Cody to ho granted a nor license at Ohakuno, as the present licensed premises were too small for requirements.
The committee would express no opinion as to whether the new licenses would he ■ granted, hut suggested that ah--application .be made to come before them on I,4th .January. !
