Per Press Association. DANGEROUS CHARACTERS. WOODVILLE, Nov. 22. Burglars entered -several business places in Vogel- street early yesterday morning and were rewarded with several sums of money left in tills, ranging from over £2 to a few coppers. The railway refreshment rooms and bookstall at the station were also burgled. The Drill Hall was entered and the armoury room ransacked, it is supposed with the object of finding explosives. It is surmised that the culprits had been attending the Dannevirke races and are filling in the time before the next race meeting.

ALLEGED ASSAULT. NELSON, Nov. 22. TO STAND TRIAL. PALMERSTON N., Nov. 22. At the Magistrate's Court an elderly man named Gillet was charged on six separate counts of indecent assault on girls between the ages of eight and ten years. He was committed for trial at the Supreme Court. IMPORTED DEER. CHRISTCHTTRCH, Nov, 22. Eight deer (one stag, and seven hinds) were landed to-day from the Turakina and sent to''Broken. River, where they will-be liberated. They have arrived in good;'condition, owing to the pens in wMchrthey were placed on board the 'steamer being sufficiently roomy.
