WELLINGTON WOOL SALE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. PJ. The best sale ever held in Wellington sums up accurately to-day's wool sale, the first of the series for 1009-1U season. The splendid range of values set at Napier was fully maintained. Talcing quality for quality pieces may have been cheaper but Heece wools suitable for America having the neeess4ry lightness in condition realised fully up to good Hawkes Bay values; in fact some of the buyers maintained that thev had to pay more for them. There were many lines quite equal to the best Hawkes Bay wools in characters* essential for the American trade, but he.ng unskirted realised from Id to less than they would have done had thev been marketed properly. One line sold at 12Jd would have realised the buyer declared fully lid had bellies not been left in. This was purchased for America, but it will have to bo rekirted and rebated before being shipped. Two thousand eight hundred bales were offered; prices on the whole were lid to 2<] better than they were at the opening sale of last season. The extreme prices up to 13.{d were for very light-conditioned hnlfbreds. Good bright crossbreds went from 10.! d to Is according to condition: ordinary to medium from 8 Ad to i).Jd; coarse crossbred* 7M to S.UI. The sate was remarkable for the very few lots passed in. Huvers were present in stronger force than ever before. When prices soared above Bradford limits and came within the American range, the bidding was left to the several operators for American houses and if the wool possessed the desired lightness in conditions the limit price was given. The heavier

conditioned and light conditioned nonskirted parcels were left to the Bradiorci and local buyers, and here the competition was strong enough io secure prices on a full parity with London values. Prices averaged as un der—Merinos, 9Jd to lOd; halfbreus, 9Jd to 13jd; superfine crossbreds, lOd to 13d; medium, 8d to lOd; coarse T<! io 9id; inferior, 7d to 8d; pieces and bellies.. 4d to 6^d; locks, Id to lid.
