Luedeke, formerly a minor clerk in the Berlin Provincial Court; Meyer, • a cook; and AVarnioke, a. c.yclist, went first to tlic civil court of Berlin about the liour at which the judges retire, and donned the judges' robes and birettas' they had stolen from tho conference room.
They then installed themselves at the table in the records room, and examined documents showing moneys duo as advances to litigants. They next filled in and stamped the forms necessary to sccuro payment. Meanwhile the attendants on entering the room imagined that tho judges were conferring, apologised and retired, or were peremptorily ordered to quit. Their immunity was duo to the multitude of judges and . arbitrators who dress alike. Tho trio collected £2OO before the police accidentally got on their track and jfinallv arrived.
