In the Federal Houso Mr Bamford, in supporting an amendment to the Electoral Bill in favour of prohibiting newspapers from commenting on elections between nomination and polling day, declared that previously the Press stood for all that was good, and was the redresser of wrongs, but now it had descended from its high pedestal, and was actually crawling in the gutter,. All papers were on the Ministerial side. Tho Labour Party was like an eight-stone man going into the ring to fight a man twelve stone weight.
