SERIOUS COMPLAINTS. WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. Tho "Dominion" states that complaints of a serious character have been lodged by one or more responsible officers of the Land and Income Jax Department, and ail enquiry is demanded. The matter has been before the Cabinet and an enquiry is deemed necessary in which two judges or the Supremo Conrt will assist. CHRISTCHTJIICH NEWS. CHRISTCHIJRCH, Nov. 11. Tho Mayor (Mr. Allison), this morning received a cheque for £SO from Madame Melba to be devoted to charitable purposes. The Broken River train was delayed about three-quarters of an hour at Islington last night owing to the signalman forgetting that it was coming through. As the signals were against the driver, the train had to wait till the guard went forward to see what was the matter. to^———«—
