TIMARU POULTRY SOCIETY.

A GENERAL MEETING. A well-attended meeting of the Timarn Poultry Society was held in Hutchison's Tea Rooms last evening. The president (Mr S. R. Burns) occupied the chair and there were 26 members present. The "secretary of the South Island Poultry Association (Mr A. Hardy) advised that the annual meeting will be held in. Dtmedm on November 24 and 2s. Among the business to be dealt with, would be the allotment of show dates for 1910, alteration of rules, consideration of the remits from _ Chnstchnrch re grouping championships, the inter-club challenge shield and the allotment of championships. these remits came from tbo Christehnrch Society. The next business was the appointment of judges for the next show. It was agreed that there should ho two judges—ono for the heavy and one for the light breeds. Tlio judge selected ior_ tfie light breeds was Mr J. Condon. (There were four nominations). Heavy breeds, Mr G. H. Blair (there were three nominations;. Pigeon judge—Mr J. Thompson. Canary judge— Mr Segar. Cat judge— Air It. Warrineton. • Cookery—-Miss Wilson (there were five nominations). ' Mr Burns congratulated the society on selecting local judges. He referred to the success achieved by Air A. S. Palmer as a judge and predicted similar success for Air G. H. Blair. Before long he would he travelling from end to end of the Dominion as a poultry judge. A member suggested that instead of baring a class for dolls at the next show, they should institute a class for writing and drawing by boys and girls. —lt was decided that this matter be discussed when tho schedule, is being drawn up. A matter in regard to a show protest was dealt with in committee. Some correspondence was received on the subject, but it was decided to take no notice of this as the matter had already been settled. Another matter, in connection with an account incurred some years ago by a previous secretary, was discussed and it was decided to hold this over for further consideration at next meeting. After other routine business had been settled, the meeting closed.
