OBITUARY.
MAORI CENTENARIAN. Per Press Association. WAIROA, Oct. 29. " On 'Wednesday night there died at Waihirere, at the reputed age of 103, Rawinia Apatu (Mis. Christy) daughter of the famous chief Apatu. She is the last link between the old and the new Wairoa, and was noted for her kindness to the Europeans. In the early thirties as' a girl she defended for serial days, with a whale lance, a young whaler, condemned to die for a breach of tepu, finally securing his escape.
