VOLUNTEERING.

THE TEMUKA RIFLES. The members of the Temuka Hifles who went into camp for a week's training at the Rifle Range on Monday night are doing good work. Tents were pitched at 6 o'clock and though the weather was not promising the. wlioJe line of tents was full next evening and 46 rank and filo answered to their names. The camp is under command of Captain" E. T. Chapman" and hi'ni are lieutenants W.. Jeffries, and W. McCallum, Staff -Sergeant./ Major Hcaly being instructor. The "daily routino is as follows: —Reveille 5 a.m.,' parade 5.30 to 7 a.m., breakfast 7.30 a.m., parade 8 a.m. to 0 a.m., lunch noon, pnrade 5 p.m., tea 6;30 p.m., parade 7 p.m. to 8.30, lectiiro 8.45 p.m., guard mounting 10 p.m., lights out 10.15 pan. So for the men have been exercised in squad drill, company drill, . musketry exercises, outpost work, skirmishing, patrol, and extended movements, under cover'and., in open country. The men are taking to the work with a good deal of keennoss, and everything* points to a successful week's work. ' On Friday night it is expected that a night attack will bo made on the camp by one of the South Canterbury companies, and some useful work 'will be gone through. On Sunday a church parade will be held in the' morning, and the company. aro to be inspected. A number of Timiini officers are expected for the day, and in the afternoon the camp will be open to visitors when the Temuka Brass Band will' give" a programme of popular music. __.._
