ADDLNGTON STOCK SALE. Per Press Association. CHBISTCHURCH, Oct. 27. 1 Sheep: The yarding of store sheep comprised a couple of pens of shorn wethers, two or three pens of wethers in the wool, a pen of ewes and lambs and a line of halfbred wether hoggets. No doubt on account of the recent rain and improved outlook for feed, considerably more - interest was taken in the sale, with the result that the various lots changed hands at satisfactory prices. Taken all round an advance of from Gd to Is per head was noticeable. Forward wethers in wool went up to 17s, medium sbonv wethers 9s 9d to 10s 9d, and halfbred wether hoggets 10s 9d. Fat lambs numbered upwards of 500 against 300 the previous week. The supply proving more than sufficient for requirements, prices were slightly easier, and when butchers had obtained, their supply values declined 2s to 3s per head. The range of prices was 10s 6d to 16s 9d. The yarding of fat sheep was v.ery small and scarcely sufficient for requirements, with the result that there was a keen demand and sharp rise in values. The sale opened at prices that equalled at least Is per head better than the prices of the previous market, and as the sale progressed the demand hardened considerably, and prices showed an appreciation of at least 2s per head. In individual cases the advance in value was even more marked and in one case there was an appreciation of 3s 5d per head. The improved demand was due almost entirely to the short supply and it u> probable that if a large entry comes forward next week, prices will recede' to last week's rates. The range of prices was—Prime wethers in the wool 19s to 93s 3d, lighter 13s lid to 18? 6d, prime shorn wethers 14s to 16s 3d, lighter 12s 2d to 13s 6d, woolly ewes 14s 9d to 235, shorn 12s 5d tc 15s 6d, woolly hoggets 16s 7d to 18s Gd, shorn hoggets 12s 6d, merino wethers 12s 9d to 14s 9d.
