The wheat market is dull, with a weakening tendency, owing" (to a less Continental demand 'and 'to better reports of the crops in tho Argentine. There is little inquiry for cargoes; Australian January-February shipment is : offered at 38s 3d-; steamer parcels,, January-February shipment, liavo been sold, for Antwerp at 37s 9d to 3Ss 3d. There is a ' poor demand on spot for, Australian at 42s (id to 435. '■ New Zealand long' berry" wheat, ; 38s to 39s ; short" berry, 6d less.. ' The butter market is quiet; Danish 130s to 1325. There is keen competition for small parcels of choicest new colonial ex Otwav and Everton Grange; salted IKis to 11.8s, unsalted 118s 't'o 120s. New secondaries .and stored aro absolutely neglected, with littlo prospects f,f any improvement for these at present, as the market is plentifully supplied with everything, exeopt choicest. Cheese is slow of trade; New Zealand is quoted at about 55s to 565. At the Bradford wool market, merinos are weaker, but there is a-better inquiry for 64's at 2Gd. and 60's at 2od ; crossbreds are unchanged. I Messrs. 'Dr.lgetv and Co. roport under date London, October 21st—"There is an improved demand: for frozen, beef; hindquarters are |d higher, but_there is a good supply of jebilletl. ~ Frozen mutton and lamb holders oto askmß higher prices, from id to -Jd:_ more. There is hardly any consumptive demand even at less than Inst'nuotation. and it is that holders wilL have to give way."
