The Board of Aldermrn at New York has resolved to give Dr Cook a public reception, and confer on him thcFreodom of the City. A resolution formally passed recognises Dr Cook as the discoverer of tho Pole. PEARY LOSES HIS TEMPER/ EFFECT AT NEW YORK. Received 9.25 p.m*, Sept. 24th. NEW YORK," Sept. 24. Commander Peary is so exasperated at Dr Cook's welcome that ho announces ho will not accept public honours nor attempt to controvert Dr Cook's claim. He w.ill remain in seclusion at his summer home, Eagle Island, Maine, until scientists have examined all tho records, Dr Cook's frankness has made an. excellent impression in New York, Commander Peary's abusive messages and ioaloiisy havo irritated the public, •> and ho is blamed for refusing to allow Mr Bartlett to accompany him on tho last 100 miles because Mr Bartlett an Englishman. Commander Peary admits that Mr Bartlett did nil tI.G rough work. ON VIEW TO-DAY. LONDON, Sept. 23. The Nimrod, with Lieutenant Shnckleton on board, received an oyntion when passing ur. Thames for public view at the Temple Pier. Captain Scott's staff and crew wcro complete.
