ELECTION PREPARATIONS. . LONDON, Sept. 10. The Opposition lenders have reached an agreement whereby Lord Robert Cecil, Mr G. S. Bowles, Mr F. W. Lambton, and Mr Abel Smith will not be opposed by the Unionist Associations in their constituencies, which arc now to be approached with a view to obviating tariff reform opposition to the sitting members of tho Free Food Unionist Party. SPORTS GROUNDS. LONDON, Sept. 10. A deputation from cricket, footbaiil, and golf clubs, headed by the Marylchone Club, the Rugby Union, and the Football Association, requested the Government to exempt land used for sjiorting and recreation purposes from the Finance Bill. Mr Mastcrman, on 1 behalf of Mr Lloyd George, promised to exempt bona fide clubs from the increment tar. The Government propose to exemot works of art bequeathed to the nati.ni from succession equally with leg-vsy and estate duties. v. Tho "Times" states that a .lepu--tation from tho committee of tlic Stock Exchange conferred with Mr Lloyd George. It is understood that tho present duty on share transactions ranging from Cd to 2s has been, withdrawn in favour of a scale of fid in a pound, 1 thereby-reducing the burden on transactions of average magnitude.
