SOUTH CANTERBURY HUNT.

A GENERAL METTING. The South Canterbury Hunt held their bi-annual meeting in-the Empire riotel on Saturday afternoon, the Master (Mr A. S.Elworthy) presiding over an attendance of about fifteen members, of ibo Hunt. A good deal of routine correspondence, was dealt with, including the minutes of ■'.» the Sew Zealand Hunt Association's Conference recently held in Wellington. The secretary E. Thomas) presented the balance-sheet of the recent steeplechase meeting, which showed a profit of £42 13s 6d, while it was stated that there was a small loss, £2 8s 2d, on the Hunt ball, chiefly owing to the fact that the ezpenditure.on the wino bill was larger than usual, as some person or persons had abstracted the surplus bottles after the ball. The treasurer read an approximate annual statement of finances, which- - showed that : the subscriptions had fallen off by £SO The * year had been started with £lOl in hand, which had. been reduced to £79, but the subsidy of £SO from the Jockey Club would\pliice the Club on its normal footing.' It was decided not to obtain tho services of one of the hounds imported bv the Waikato Hunt, as lit was considered that the service fee asked was too much. As the prospects for next season seemed to warrant it. it was resolved to summer the hounds as usual. Tho meeting closed with votes of thanks to the Master and farmers who had allowed their land to be hunted over.
