SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
TIM All (J MAIN. Tlio monthly meeting of the Tiiuaru -Uani School Committee was held in the committer room last ■ evening. Prosent Messrs Wilson (in the cliair), J )°j- -J- Olphert, G. Stead, J. RadcJiffc, J. Robertson, and C. G. Vvogeler (lion. sec.). Apologies were received ireni the chairman <i{ev. A. E. Hunt) and Mr'W. Burmester.
Tlie headmaster, Mr G. Dalglish. reported that tlio attendance lor' tlie past month had been fairly good. The ' or 10 Past four weeks were 696.3, / 08.6, 675.5, and 670; the highest attendance was 724.' The inspectors paid their annual visit on August I—th, and tlie school was closed for the usual term holidays on August 27th. llie matter of desks for the infant room had - been- discussed with the Jioard s foreman, and an attempt would be made to get accommodation to suit the present seats. The 'Education. Board wrote with reterenco to proposed charges for drainage and water by ' tlie Borough Council, asking that representatives from the School Committee be appoiuted to attend a conference of -members of the Boa'rd and other- committees with the Borough Council 6n the 13th or 14th ,nS Vj see the proposed charges could be reduced. —Messrs Wilson and \ ogeler were ai>pointeu as the Committee's representatives to the conference.

The He v. J. Olphert, for the visiting committee,' said , the janitor ' had been having a regular spring clean, : taking advantage of the absence,of the children. One little matter or a leak in the roof would, ho understood, , bo attended to by the carpenter. The outhoqses .were in good order, and the wefe showing signs of spring. It would ba necessary to: get a further supply of coat and hat pegs. Mr Stead, treasurer, said "that they had £23 12s .4(1 in liand, to, last for : tlu next two months; if®;it had* not been for tho fuel fund they would' have been, in low water.
