SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, JSept. 1. The fifth day of the trial of Arthur F. Wimsett, charged with. complicity in the robbery from the Parcels Post Office in - January last, was entered upon to-day. Accused's wife related a conversation she had with Hemingway in gaol. of her husband's arrest,, and asked Hemingway, what lie was going, to do. 'Hemingway replied, ."I am going into the box to, give!- Wimsett five solid years, as he has given-tome." She replied, "How can you do that ?" Hemingway answered, ''l am in for five years what with- yoa giving up stuff, to /the detective, and Arthur with hj» long tongue telling the detectives.- I .-waa-.in Sydney, I am /here.", He added that : the detective told v hiiri'thafc ; Wimsett had given information away. Several witnesses testified to ! the good character'/of Wimsett. ' The lengthy trial. came; to conclusion. ' this - uftcrnoon. • -Without leaving the Iwx the jury found Wimsett not guilty,", adding that the trial .left no stain, on his character. ... j.
INYERCARGILL, Sept. 1. The Supremo Court concluded--, the hearing of the wages case, William Gregory v. Mary Gregory (administratrix), a claim fof'£'3l2, six years' wages at £1 a week, as manager of a farm. The case .was a - family, matter, in which all the .parties were beneficiaries under ■■ the .'will .■ : His Honour said the plaintiff was. entitled >.to something, ' but :not to - £1 : a. week, as the proceeds of the . farm were small, and that the amount named .would trench oil>. the . estate/. .' Plaintiff - was entitled only.to -aW amount to which the estate benefited by his service,: and His- Honour awarded -£7sj and costs, to come out of the estate.
