FIRES.
HOUSE DESTROYED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 30. A house iu Kent Teraee, owned by Dr. Young, and occupied by several tenants, was gutted by tire. Indications of fire were noticed an hour byfore it broke out, and a .search was made without avail. At forwards flames hurst out under the otaircasc and overran the place at once. .Most of the occupants had little insurance, and are iieavv losers, but the home was in.-iired for £K>OO. Yesterdav an unoccupied building at Ivt.me. belonging to the P.ailway Depart.meiit. was burned. It was valued at about £OOO. The Hon. AY. Montgomery's eleven roomed house at Little River was burned down on Saturday altornooii. The fire started in a detached outhouse, but could not be kept out oi the r-sdence. Some furniture was sot out. The loss will he considerablv over the insurances.. £l3oo m all.'
