Cnrtiss, an American won the. tonkilomctrc aeroplane speed race in 7min oosec, also the Gordon Bennett 20 kilometre speed prize, consisting of a cup of the value of £IO,OOO, with a trophy worth £SOO. His time was 15min Slscc JT. Blcriot was second in 15itiin s(ssce, and Mr Hubert Latham third in ]7min 33soc. MOTOR EXPLODES. Received 10.30 p.m., August 30th. PARIS,- August 30. Mr Cnrtiss won the 30 kilometre speed race in 26min 40sec. M. Bleriot's motor in his race exploded and the burning -machine struck the ground with some force. M. Rleriot was slightly burned on the hand. i The race was viewed by a quarter ot a million spectators. MISHAPS TO ZEI'PELLLN. BERLIN, August 30. The Zeppelin airship which quitted Fricdrichshafou on Friday, experienced -mishaps necessitating stoppages and repairs, and arrived at Berlin; yesterday. The Kaiser warmly welcomed Count Zeppelin, and drove with him to the royal castle.
