WAIMATE.
THE PASTORAL ASSOCIATION. The committee of tho association met on Saturday afternoon, the president (Mr A. Garland) in the chair, and nearly a full attendance of members. The president reported on the meeting of delegates in Timaru re proposed appointment of an agricultural instructor for South Canterbury. He considered the matter was not yet on a. gt>od footing, hut good might yet come of it. He and his fellow delegate thought £5 might he voted. The other delegate (Mr Bitchener) concurred. The delegates were thanked and are to attend any future conference on' the subi-jct The Town Clerk, wrote complaining of overhanging trees from the association's property.—lt was reported that the trees were now being cut back. Messrs A. Sinclair, J. K. Borrie, and .0. J. Stanley were elected members of the association/ The committee appointed to revise the. schedules reported, anel after consideration certain alterations were made. These related to sheep, cattle, horses, dogs, etc., and will be duly set forth in the printed schedule. It was decided to allot three points in championships in all classes. Grain was struck out. and the committee recommended instead that a medal be offered at the Winter Show for best collection or as schedule. Home made, produce is to he made a .separate section. Saddlery and boots were struck out. Thanks "were accorded the various sub-committees for their work in revising the catalogue. It was decided to bold the show on November 4th, and the horse parade on October 6th. The usual donation (£5) was voted to the Ploughing Association. • Accounts for £l(s 14s 6d were passed for payment. The president (Mr Garland), offered a special prize of £5 5s for most points in all classes.
