THIO DARRACH-GRANT CASK. CHRTSTCHURCH, August ]s\ The iudges of the Now Zealand Racing Conference (Sir George Clifford, Messrs T. AV. Stringer and Jolin A. Cook) have given the following decision h> the anneal by S. Darragh against the decision of the . Auc'klaud Motrnnolitan Committee disqualifying him for li'e in connection with the running of the liorse Tauriki at the Takaouna Jockey Club's .autumn mooting, 100S, which decision varied a decision of the Takapuna Jockey Club disqualifying Darragh during the pleasure of the club: "Although all the circumstances connected with the running of the mare Tauriki are exceedingly suspicious and the evidence most contradictory and unsatisfactory, the judges are not absolutely satisfied that a case of ringing in has been established and, therefore, leave this question open for further investigation by the Auckland Metropolitan Committee or the Takamma Jockey Club, if fresh evidence should be forthcoming. Assuming, however, that the mare which ran at Avoudale. Takapuna, and JUlo.rslio was the chestnut mare by St. Crisoin from a Freedom mare alleged to have been bred bv S. Darragh, we are satisfied that though entered and raced in the name of G. Grant, she never ceased to- he the property o DarraHi and that -she was raced Uirough<Mib in his interest and m violation of the rules of racing. Wo are •dsn of opinion that be+li J. Grant and S. Davrngh have wilfully supplied false information dm-ing the whole course of Hie enquirv. AVe, therefore, find that J. Grant and S. Darragh. have been

guilty of fraudulent practices on the l.ui'l' ;\ncl wo hereby disqualify the said S. Darragh and flic mare Tauriki for a term of live, years I'roin tin- 14th of May, 1909. As .1. Grant has not, appealed against, the disqualification imposed upon Jiim by .llu> Metropolitan Committee, w.> direct Die said committee t.o vary the disqualification of S. Grant so as to make it, accord with that imposed hereby <>n S. Darragh. Wc confirm (he decision of the Tulcnpuna Jockey CIul) aiid the Metropolitan Committee' in regard to the payment of the stakes in the races won bv Tanriki. "We order the despos.it in this case to he returned."
