HOCKEY.
Tho Timaru ladies' team on Thursday iourneyed to Oamaru to play a match with the North Otago Club. The .weather was ideal for liockey, and the spectators were treated to a fast and exciting game. In the first spell play was of a very even nature, Timaru attacking, but" the defence of the Oamaru. team was too good, f rom a scramble in front of the Oamaru goal Miss Mason had a shot but tlie ball went wide. The first' spell ended with no score for either side. On resuming limaru made the pace very fast and some verv good passing rushes were seen. With only three minutes to go there was still no score, when from a bully near the half way line the Th maru forwards came away wth tlie ball, the rush ending i' l Miss Stewart shooting a goal. Immediately alterwards from a dribble from the twentv-five line Miss G. McYY liiiter scored". The game ended Timaru Oama,ru nil. ]Vlis c es Blyth. and Mitchell did excellent work for Oamaru. and Misses Hunt, Howens, and MeWhirter were the pick of Timaru. After the game the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. by the Oamaru team, their kindness beinfj . mneli appreciated bv the limaru Club, who had a very enjoyable time.
