MELBOURNE, August 13. .Information has reached the Presbyterian Church authorities that over 20 French surveyors are engaged surveying land in the New Hebrides, . and that a large number of British settlers haw been served with notices that certain areas iTre claimed by the French. S\Vjp, a view of conserving-the interests of BriLish and Australian missionaries and the natives, the Presbyterian Church (.'f Victoria, in conjunction ■with Burns, Philp and Company, is '?ending a couple of surveyors to the N'ew Hebrides to survey the mission lands and holdings of such British s tt.lcis as avail themselves ol their services.
