STOCK SALE. Messrs Guinness and -LeCrcu, Ltd., report having sold, on account of Win. Nixon, Killincby, his eighteen mouths old Suorthom Dult Lord lveagh 111 , bv Beaulieu Duke 69, dam Jfc. Itiby I'rinceas XI., to Mr Robert J. JliKeown, of Kimioull. This young bull was first- as a yearling at Ellesmere show, and second in a large class at Christchurcfi, and Mr McKeown is to be congrtaulated on securing such a fine specimen of the Shorthorn breed. SHARES AND PROPERTY ON OFFER. Mr J. Mundell on Saturday offered i- n shares iu the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, £2 10s paid up, on account of Mr Somerville. The bidding went to £'■} 2s, and the shares were passed in. Two other shares, with the same amount paid up, sold for £3 3s. Three i-acro sections- at Kensington were all passed at £6O, and two sections of 26 perches elicited no bids. It is anticipated that sales will be effected to-day. TATTERSALL'S HORSE SALE. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association report on the sale of horses held at Tattersall's yards on Saturdav. as follows: —The yarding comprised 20 draught, light harness, and hackney horses. There was a good attendance, and bidding for good young sorts, with trials, was animated. Sales were made as follows: — Draughts, young, and fit for present work, £34 to £36 10s; stale and aged, £lO to £11; light horses, £l2 to £l6. A set of pony harness fetched £2 7s 6d, a side saddle 27s 6d, and a sheep dog, unbroken, 7s.

CLEARING SALE. Leslie O'Callaghan and Co. report having held a most successful clearing sale in the estate of the late Mr John Jackson, in the mart on Saturday. The desire to secure bargains on the part of many, and curiosity to see the goods sokl on the part of others, drew a great crowd to the sale, and th' - holding capacity of our large mart was over-taxed. The sale commenced sharp to time at' 12 o'clock, and finished shortly after -3 o'clock, and every article offered at auction found a ready purchaser. The 20-2-3 h.j>. Cadillac motor car was offered at 2 o'clock, and, contrary to the expectations of many, met with very spirited bidding. After a short description of the car, bids were solicited, and an opening bid of £2-50 was made. The price rose to £3-50 in £2-3 bids, and then to £3B-3 iii £lO aw! £-3 bids. M this price the car was sold to Mr William PI vans, to the very evident satisfaction of the large crowd watching the sale. Jonas and Co. report for the week ended August 7th, as follows: Poultry.—There is an increasing demand for this class, and prime samples meet with a ready side at good prices. We advise clients to take advantage while high prices are ruling. Fruit There has been such a tremendous run on all classes that the markets have been somewhat hare, and in consequence prices hardened considerably.
