From same, stating that he had inspected the Hanging Rock bridge and •measured up all works in connection ■with it. The work had been very well done. The contract price was £2919 15s 6d. The value of the works executed amounted to £2923 2s, or £3 Gs 6d over the contract prire. Progress payments to Messrs Black, and payments for timber to the Westland Company had been made from time to time. After deducting these from £2923 2s> the balance will be pavahle -to Messrs Black and Son on July loth. According to figures, the writer estimated that the total payments on the •work had been £274-5 6s sd. The ranger is at prosent cleaning the main race at the Gorge. The present agreement with the ranger expires on the 19th inst. The committee advise that the present ranger bo anpointed ' temporarily at the same salary f-r a further term of two months.
