A meeting of New Zealand and Australian meat importers, Air Goerge Goodsir presiding, discussed the glut in the market and the serious decline in' price. "Without - exacting individual pledges, the meeting approved of the principle of abstaining {experimentally, during the next ten days, from selling Canterbury meat of less than 361bs under 4d, 36lbs to 42Ibs at under 3id, 421bs to 501bs at under choice North Island and Southland at id less for each grade. The meeting did not believe in fixtures to check sales. Mr Goodsir estimated that 1,000,000 carcases were now stored. It was resolved to ask the New Zealand Government to undertake systematic advertising of meat during the continuance of the glut in the interests of the Dominion's trade.
