An inquest was held this afternoon touching the death of Henry Marcus Black, a single, man, aged 39 years, whose body was found on the beach at the southern end of the Marine I'aride this morning. Deceased was until the recent dissolution of partnership, a member of the firm of Black Bros., painters and decorators. .Ho had suffered from despondency, and insomina, but was possessed of ample means and had had some intention of starting business at Hastings. When found the body was fully clothed and deceased's bicycle was about 25 yards away, also below- highwater mark. The Coroner returned a verdict-of drowning, hut whether it was wilful or accidental, there was not sufficient evidence to show. FATAL COLLISION. WELLINGTON, June 29. An expressman, John Frederick Ramsay, who was thrown from, his vehicle in Jervois road yesterday morning, succumbed to the. injuries he received to-day. The: horse attached'to the express bolted and the cart collided with a tree, with the result that Ramsay was thrown heavily on to his head. He was picked up unconscious and death ensued this morning. He was 70 years of age. CAUGHT IN MACHINERY. CHRISTCHURCH V June 29. An inquest was held this afternoon touching the dentil of Mr A. J. Black. ensrinccr at Parsons' monumental works, who was killed yesterday afternoon. The evidence showed .that deceased had/descended into,the inspection nit. while the machinery was in motion and was caught in the gear and frightfnllv mangled. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
