Cecil Dciieh, the man who barricaded himself in a cottage at St. Blazey, Cornwall, after shooting Severn! persons, and surrendered on the fourth day, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment. H>_> pleaded . guilty, and said he was maddened by boys teasing him. According to the' story told in the "Daily Express," Dench fired one evening at two little boys, who were playing behind his house. One of them was bit. but not seriously. Constable Richards, followed by a sailor, went Up to the house to investigate, but was ,met by two shots,'"one of which hit the sailor. Two more men were wounded in' tryiiig to rush the house. Later ''th.nt' night Dench bis mother out for water, and the woman was detained by the police, who then settled down to starve the man out. Dehch, who i* between 30 and 40. is said to have .been sent to an asylunr some years fro for stabbing a number of people with a liiiife.
