HOTELS TO:BE CLOSED,
Per Prowa Association. AUCKLAND, June 25.
Current hotel licenses will expire on ■Wednesday next and on that date the various hotels which havo failed to secure renewals of licenses as tho result of the last local option poll will elose their bars. The number of hotels in Auckland district that will be, closed will he 28, of which 14 are in Olnneimiri and four in Eden, in both of, which districts no license was carried. The closing of the remaining hotels has been brought about by reduction. With the view of lightening the blow that is to fall on tho licensees of tho five hotels that are to be closed nv tho city, the Auckland Licensed Victuallers Association has decided to make a canvass among members with a. view of collecting £IOOO. to bo equally divided amongst tho' affected Up to the riresent about £tQU has been subscribed for the purpose.
