GERALDINE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the ahove Council was held on Tuesday evening. Present —The Mayor (Mr F. R. Flatman), and Councillors W. A. Sherratt, J. Kennedy, R. Taylor, T. Sherratt, and Dr Paterson. Correspondence was read and dealt with, as follows: — From the National League of New Zealand, Auckland, asking assistance to the movement in favour of the universal training of the youth of the Dominion. —It was resolved to invite Mr R. McNab to give an address on the subject in Geraldine. Application for a street lamp at the corner of Cox street, and for~a footbridge over the gully in Peel street were referred to the Lighting and Works Committees respectively. Dr. Paterson notified a case of chicken pox and scarlatina in the borough. The Milton Borough Council having decided to send a representative to inspect the Geraldine acetylene installation, asked the Council to give the representative the desired information. The Geraldine 'Baud applied for leave to use instruments in the possession of the Council, and the matter was left with Councillors T. and W. A. Sherratt to arrange. The overseer reported on works completed and in hand: that there was a good supply of water, but trouble had been caused by falling leaves in the water-races: the gas generators were working well. He proposed to take I'roceedings ai'.ainst the owners of a motor car and motor cycle for travelling at excessive speed through tl"* borough. Moneys received from all sources during the past mouth came to £l2O 10s 7d.—Th<> report was approved, especially the taking action for ex'-essive driving.
