TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY -MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Road Board was held yesterday, l'retent: Messrs John Talbot (chairman), U. Hide, G. W. Armitage, A. Bissett and I'. Coira. i'. Coira. Accounts for £B6 13s 4d were pased for payment. Correspondence was read as tinder: The Counties Association asked particulars of time, service, salaries paid, etc., of the clerical staff with a. view to actuarial establishment- of a superannuation scheme. —Information was supplied by the clerk. The Valuation Department wrote assessing values on town sections 55 6 premises occupied by Board's clerk. The Geraldine County Council notified the Board of the Timaru Harbour rate. The clerk to the Levels County forwarded copy of a telegram from Mr Triggs, conciliation commissioner, in re the award as to the general labourers dispute, stating that County -Councils and Road Boards were exempt from the general labourers' award.

After hearing the deputation the Board expressed its svmpathv with the objects of the. Institute, and the clerk was -instructed to look up the authorities and report at next meeting if the Board had such power to make the grant. -Messrs Aspinnll and Rontledge waited upon the Board and asked that repairs be done to the Mill Road and the bridge over the Wailii Creek leading to the mill. The overseer was instructed to report on the road, and the repairs were ordered to be carried out. The overseer's report dealt with the wok of the oast month and mentioned that .Monalian Bros, were unable to enrrv out their contract on the 1' arm road owing to the shingle from Elliott's pit" proving unsuitable, and that when the roads are fit they will complete.
