In the Magistrate's Court to-day, Henry Todd, a young man, was mulcted in damages £'so, and <josts £U I'2s, compensation for injuries indicted on Mrs Mary Jones, with whom he collided on a recent Sunday night while cycling downhill on the footpath without a light. HAMILTON, June 1. A mail named Scott while working in ii clay cutting this afternoon near tho traffic bridge which is in course of erection, was severely injured by n sudden fall of earth. He was got out alive with extreme difficulty, but his recovery is improbable. The injured man has a wife and three children. Ho only started work yesterday after being out of employment for some months. HASTINGS, June 1. A fashionable wedding took place at St. Matthews Church to-day, when Sir Frederick Caradoc Rose Price, of Hensol Castle, Glamorganshire, was married to Miss Marjorie Isabel Russell, youngest daughter of Sir William Russell. The ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Waiapu. PALMERSTON N., June 1. His Excellency goes to Christchurch to-morrow, returning to Wellington about Saturday, remaining there some few days during the Parliament season. Lady Plunket also goes to Wellington to-morrow for about ten days. The result of the Barnardo Mission here will be about £IOO over the expenses. WELLINGTON. June 1. The Rev. J. Dawson, of the New Zealand Alliance, who has returned from the King Country, told a "Post" reporter that he attended a public meeting at Raetihi on Sunday, -which passed a resolution strongly protesting against the granting of wholesale licenses in Raetihi and the neighbourhood. A petition signed by 198 Europeans and 80 natives, has been forwarded to the clerk of the Licensing Court at Waitara, and protests and petitions of a similar character are also in preparation at Rangatana and Ohakune.
