They had no insurances on a large stock of manures and farm produce. SHOPS AND SALOON' BURNT. MASTERTOX, .May 1!>. A fire broke out at 1 o'clock last night in a fruit shop and billiard saloon occupied by a Japanese named Ah Lop. The premises were part of a two-stcrey block of buildings close to the Post office. It wis raining heavily at the time, but the fire spread along the upper storeys, and practically destroyed the building?. J lie other occupants were Mrs Home, refreshment saloon; Blinkhorn, tobacconist; Clarke, iis.'i hhop; and Cok mil \\i sternum, drao ers. A large part of the latter s stock was removed, lint was much damaged. The buildings belonged to the Trust l,;uids Trust, and were erected many years ago. Mr and Mrs Home and two children slept on the premises and had a narrow escape. Tlie insurances amount to £3OOO. Immediately alter this fire, Buttlement's brewery, an old unoccupied budding, was burnt down. It was insured lor £IOO. SAAYMILL DESTBOVED. STRATFORD, May 111. At an early hour lliis morning the Sew Plymouth sash and door sawmill at Toko was destroyed by fire. Everything except the stacked timber was destroyed. The insurance is not known.
